New Durham Estates Hosts Open House Event with State, County, and Local Elected Officials to Celebrate Arrival of Crossmod Homes in Westville
From Sitting on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. to Now Calling Westville Home, These Innovative Homes Bring Workforce Housing to the Area.
WESTVILLE, INDIANA- NOVEMBER 14, 2025 – The community gathered at the two new Clayton Crossmod homes at New Durham Estates to learn about and celebrate these innovative workforce housing solutions for La Porte County. The open house event, which welcomed industry leaders and elected officials, was held in the two new homes located at New Durham Estates in Westville, Indiana.
These new homes have features much like traditionally constructed homes, while still being able to be manufactured and delivered on site. One of the homes, located at 751 Cypress Way, sat on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., earlier this year as a showcase home for innovative housing solutions. When the home left Washington, D.C., it came home to its permanent home in Westville, Indiana. Guests were able to tour this beautiful home yesterday.
“In our country, whether you’re starting a family, whether you’re retiring, single, whatever your situation is, having a home is very crucial,” Tom Fath, Vice President of New Durham Estates, said during the program.
During the event, elected officials and industry leaders spoke about the benefits of this modern and innovative workforce housing solution in our community.
“They [New Durham Estates] are creating choices. It’s not every day you see something that just passed at the federal level to allow for these single-section mods to be financed this long. These are opportunities, and they brought them from D.C. to here. This is the first one [Crossmod] that’s ever been produced. These two new homes at New Durham Estates will be the first of their kind in Westville, for now. The goal is that these homes kick off the next phase of growth for New Durham Estates as they plan to grow to accommodate another 58 home sites. Both of the Crossmod homes located on Cypress Way are for sale and feature many amenities, including attached garages.
