At New Durham Estates, fall is one of our favorite times of year. It is the perfect season to get outside, explore activities, and connect with the community around us. 

If you are looking for a weekend activity for the family or the best place to find a pumpkin to carve, these fall favorites and local events are a great place to start. Pick out your favorite sweater, grab some apple cider, and take some time to enjoy the wonderful season in Northwest Indiana.

Pumpkin & Apple Orchards

Coulter’s Farm

Coulter’s Farm in Westville, Indiana is a classic fall destination for families to celebrate the season. Visitors can pick their own pumpkins, take a hayride, explore a corn maze, enjoy fresh apple cider and more. 

Open daily from 8 am – 6 pm. 

Garwood Orchards

Garwood Orchards in LaPorte is a great day trip for the family. Stop by the market for fresh treats and local products or grab a hayride for u-pick. 

Open daily from 9 am – 6 pm.

Radke Orchards

Located in Michigan City, Radke Orchards is known for its apple picking. Tractor rides are available on weekends, and pets are welcome. 

Open daily from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. 

Fischer Farm

Fischer’s Farm in LaPorte is a family-owned farm featuring a pumpkin patch and corn maze.

They open Saturday, September 19th, and are open daily from 9 am until dusk. 

Fall Events and Festivals 

LaPorte Sunflower Fair 

The Sunflower Fair brings over 100 craft and nonprofit vendors to downtown LaPorte. The event features a kids’ fun zone, contests, entertainment, and more.

Wanatah Scarecrow Festival

The Scarecrow Festival is a long-time community tradition. The festival includes a parade, contests, great food, live music, kids’ activities, and raffles throughout 3 days!

Pioneer Days 

Creek Ridge County Park in Michigan City will host its 29th annual Pioneer Days, featuring fun, food, and history. Wagon rides, crafts, food, and historical demonstrations all day long!

Westville Pumpkin Festival

Held at Prairie Meadow Park for more than 30 years, the Pumpkin Festival offers a variety of fall activities, including kids’ games, raffles, a 5K run, a parade, vendors, crafts, and much more.

LaPorte Spook Fest

Stop by the Dunes Event Center for the Spook Fest, welcoming over 100 vendors. Wear your costume for fun and join in on a scavenger hunt!

Trail Creek Fall Festival

The Trail Creek Fall Festival in Michigan City is a day full of music, games, vendors, food, a pet costume parade, and pumpkin decorating.

Michigan City Boo at the Zoo

Get into the Halloween spirit with trick-or-treating at Washington Park Zoo. Great for all ages!

Haunted Trails at Friendship Botanic Gardens

Wear your costume, explore the festive botanical gardens, and enjoy games, activities, storytelling, and more.

Halloween Happenings at the LaPorte County Fairgrounds

A weekend full of festive events, including trick-or-treating, camping, a chili cook-off, pumpkin decorating, a scavenger hunt, a costume contest, and more!

Our personal favorite! We are looking forward to trick-or-treating on October 31st from 5-7 pm. We can’t wait to see all of the awesome costumes.
